Three Years, Three Learnings

Three years at Dyson, already?  Feels like a big enough number to write something here about. I love the number three anyway, so in celebration of three years at Dyson, here are three things that I have learned:

1.      We really do look for ways to solve problems others ignore. Beyond being a mission statement, it's a way of working - I've never worked anywhere with the same culture of problem-solving and empowerment of people to solve those problems. If anyone thinks there is a better way of doing something, it is an open forum on improving that process or experience, regardless of position. Having that openness is a huge strength, pooling diversity of ideas and experience and focusing on positive outcomes

2.      Every company says, 'Our People Are Our Strength'. For me, it's more than a platitude - after the last 12 months I could not be prouder than I am of the colleagues I have. The strength, determination and willingness to go the extra mile (and then a few miles more) is unparalleled. In globally challenging circumstances I have been so grateful to stand alongside my Dyson family as we have stood up, faced and triumphed in this past year. I've been appreciative and impressed with the commitment to mental well-being from the company and again seen the impact it can have.

3.      Your mother does indeed love you more if you buy her the latest Dyson tech! I really wish this was a joke.

It's been three years filled with accomplishments I'm very proud of but importantly it's been three years of fun; fun attacking problems and challenges as they arise; fun hitting and smashing targets. The most fun, however, is the people I work with and they are who I have learned the most from. Like I said, it's been a great three years, I'm looking forward to the next three.
