Gen AI: An Experiment
“AI” is truly the buzzword for 2024, at least it was everywhere in 2023. AI is unlike any other technology that I can think of in that it generates an emotional response from most people - you either get evangelical early adopters or fearful Luddites, with very little in between. As a child of the 80’s I think Terminator has a lot to answer for, although I’m sure my parents would say the same about Asimov in the 50’s.
Whether or not we like it, AI is distinctly here. It has been for years, from auto-complete texting to maps, it’s just we have different names for it. The advances in the past couple of years has been from generative AI, i.e. artificial intelligence that can create. As an exercise, a playful one at that, I asked ChatGPT to tell me about the risk of Gen AI when it comes to blogging - you can see the results for yourself below. I will say it was a lot quicker, I hate the formatting and the voice but I guess it hits the main notes, even if it does at times sounds like my seven year old explaining something to me by repeating the same word endlessly!
